Committee Descriptions

Each semester, committee members are recruited to assist in one of five committees. This is a great opportunity for general members to deepen their involvement in the club and serves as excellent preparation for the responsibilities of executive positions!

Note: Applications are open until Friday, April 21st for the fall 2023 semester.

Sales and Promotion Committee

Meetings every other week

The Sales and Promotions committee heads the Wisconsin School of Business Pop-Up Shop which stands as the exclusive seller of all business school apparel. Committee members will have the chance to touch a variety of areas that contribute to the operation and success of the store. These include product development, pricing analysis, supplier outreach and management, shipping, and promotional tactics.

New: The Sales and Promo committee will be venturing into new territory, reaching out to other clubs in WSB and pitching unique and elevated merchandise designs specific to each club. Members will gain experience designing merchandise, the RFP (Request for Proposal) process, and consulting as a creative expert.

Social Media Committee

Meetings every other week

The Social Media committee spearheads club-wide communications and initiatives through platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram. Students will be provided training and gain expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. As a member of the committee, you will be responsible for designing graphics, crafting the brand image for MKT, and promoting MKT events.

New: We are looking for a photographer to capture club events and take student headshots. Formal photography training or experience preferred.

Consulting Committee

Meetings every other week

The Consulting committee provides guidance and assistance to small businesses in Madison, helping them achieve pointed marketing objectives. Students in the committee are afforded the opportunity to get hands-on experience with strategy, client empathy, and content creation.

Past semester projects include developing a marketing strategy, establishing new distribution channels, promoting brand awareness and brand preference, implementing promotional events, and exploring different media outlets for advertising.

 Networking & Events Committee

Meetings every other week

The Networking & Events committee assists in the planning of various activities that foster professional development and community for our members. The committee will coordinate networking opportunities such as employer site visits, case competitions, volunteer opportunities, and the spring Chicago trip.

New: Planning the bi-weekly socials will no longer be in the scope of Networking and Events. We want to draw the committee’s focus to greater professional networking opportunities. Be a key part in creating new experiences for MKT members. New events, new companies, new travel - up to you!

Sponsorship Committee

Meetings every other week

The Sponsorship committee’s primary responsibility is working with local restaurants to organize food for our bi-weekly meetings.

New: In addition to coordinating with local vendors for food, the Sponsorship committee will recruit organizations to serve as an official sponsor of MKT. Persuade companies to participate in activities such as funded case competitions and exclusive networking dinners. The committee will provide not only financial support, but help build awareness for MKT in the Madison community. Through sponsored activities, students will receive further professional opportunities and job prospects.
